This painting is part of a series which explores moments of joy, beauty and transcendence whilst also hinting at life’s fleeting and fragile nature: the sense of suspended movement speaks of moments of contemplation within the neverending and relentless motion of life. The positioning of leaves in these paintings reflects upon our need for community and togetherness.

The imagery was inspired by floating leaves on a body of water combined with the reflection of the clouds, conjuring an other-worldly, hauntingly beautiful moment, suspended in time.

A finely-blended background of sky and admiral blue is highlighted by touches of white and pale lavender, with leaves of pale yellow and olive and juniper green floating on top, creating a mysterious landscape where reflections and reality collide.

As part of my working process, I immerse myself in nature, photographing what I find. I then use Photoshop as a means of sketching and experimenting with composition before finally using oil paint as an emotive and expressive vehicle to create the finished work.

I often use glaze medium to build translucency and depth of colour, resulting in luminous, jewel-bright colours and glossy highlights on key areas.

If any unexpected circumstances mean your order will arrive later than this, we will get in touch to let you know. If you live outside the UK please get in touch to get a bespoke shipping quote.
